X-Plane 11 : Carenado Cessna 208B Grand Caravan : Startup Tutorial

We're starting the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan in this tutorial. The aircraft is a single engine turboprop, capable of carrying a moderate passenger and/or cargo load.

X-Plane 11 : LES Saab 340 : Startup Tutorial

We're looking at an alternate startup procedure for the Saab 340 in this video. The documented startup includes use of the GPU. I believe that without an external AC unit it makes much more sense to simulate startup without the GPU. This procedure also requires fewer steps because of that.

X-Plane 11 : Carenado Pilatus PC-12 : Valencia LEVC Landing

We're looking at a straight in practise landing at Valencia LEVC in the Pilatus PC-12 in this video. A normal approach would generally be flown using the angle of attack indicators, but here we approach at around 95 knots, and smoothly touch down with a nose up attitude, landing on the main gear.

X-Plane 11 : Carenado King Air B200 : Valencia LEVC Crosswind Landing

Next in our series of videos on approach and landing, we encounter a 5 knot crosswind when landing the King Air B200.

X-Plane 11 : Carenado King Air B200 : Valencia LEVC Landing

We're looking at landing the King Air B200 in this video. The aircraft is not particularly difficult to land, but to land on the main landing gear is more of a challenge. I talk about the use of power to manage vertical speed at the roundout and flare, and the importance of holding a 2.5 to 5 degree nose up pitch attitude through the flare to touchdown.

X-Plane 11 : Cessna 172 : Terni LIAA : Crosswind Landing

I'm adding a five knot crosswind to traffic patterns, and in this video we look at a crosswind approach and landing.

X-Plane 11 : Cessna 172 : LIAA Terni : Traffic Pattern

I think we can sometimes focus too much on the glamorous fast aircraft. And in doing so we miss out on what happens at low altitude. And there is so much to see and do down there. Inspired by a recent purchase of Terni airfield, in this video I practise traffic patterns, and approaches, in the stock Cessna 172.

X-Plane 11 : LES Saab 340 : Destination Jersey

The destination is Jersey, a short flight across the English Channel, and we're taking the flight in the Saab 340.

X-Plane 11 : Carenado Pilatus PC-12 : Startup Tutorial

The Pilatus PC-12 is a single engine turboprop aircraft. The aircraft is a bridge between a twin piston engine aircraft and a twin turboprop. In this video we look at starting the aircraft and preparing it for flight.

X-Plane 11 : Zibo Boeing 737-800 : Tutorial 4 Startup Captain Preflight

We continue our look at starting the Zibo 737-800 with Captain preflight.

Assetto Corsa Competizione : Lamborghini Huracan GT3 : Nurburgring GP 1.57.6

The successor to Assetto Corsa, Competizione, is now in early access. I put some time into the first track and car released in this video.

X-Plane 11 : Aerobask Robin DR401 : EGJJ Jersey Crosswind Approach

Landing in ideal conditions is a challenge, but landing in a crosswind adds more variables that need to be understood and mastered.

X-Plane 11 : Aerobask Robin DR401 : Klagenfurt to Salzburg

This is an exercise in starting the aircraft, navigating to a destination, and conducting a successful approach. We're using the newly released Aerobask Robin DR401 to do this. The objective is to reinforce the ideas and techniques previously learned in other aircraft such as the Cessna 172.

X-Plane 11 : Aerobask Robin DR401 : LOWK Klagenfurt Approach

Aerobask have graciously released the Robin DR401 for free to the community. The aircraft is often used as a real world trainer. As such it is quite a docile, low speed aircraft, and it makes a perfect platform to practise approaches and landing technique.

X-Plane 11 : Carenado Pilatus PC-12 : Salzburg Approach

We're approaching Salzburg in a single engine turboprop, the Pilatus PC-12, preparing to land.

X Plane 11 : Carenado Beechcraft Baron 58 with REP : Linz LOWL Approach

I'm preparing for a flight between Salzburg and Linz in the Baron. I thought it was worthwhile to first practise the approach to Linz. The landing itself was reasonable, touching down on the main gear, and then lowering the nose, and as the weather was pleasant, I thought I'd make a video out of the replay. I had planned to talk over it, but then the sound of the Baron seemed too good to obscure, even with music, so I left it as it is.

X Plane 11 : Carenado King Air B200 : Girona to Toulouse

I should probably describe this as an example of how not to do things.

The lesson I took from this is that I need to fly this aircraft more often. In fact I need to fly more often. But that's a consequence of creating tutorials; it doesn't leave much time for doing what I describe.

X-Plane 11 : Zibo Boeing 737-800 : Tutorial 1 Startup Electrical Power Up & Preliminary Preflight

This is the first in a series covering the Zibo Boeing 737-800 from startup to shutdown. The Zibo 737 is simply a modded version of the default 737.

There are countless tutorials covering this aircraft available, so the question would be, why create another series of tutorials for it?

The answer is that, as always, I want to create tutorials that explain not just how to do the things required to make something work, but why we do those things.

I hope that at the end of the series viewers will have a thorough understanding of the 737, through all phases of flight.

X Plane 11 : Carenado King Air B200 : Almeria Climb with Ortho & xEnviro 1.09

We're looking briefly at a climb in the King Air B200 climbing to altitude while leaving Almeria enroute to Jerez. The video includes Ortho scenery and xEnviro 1.09.

X Plane 11 : Carenado Beech 1900D : Tutorial 1 Startup

With the overview of its various systems complete, we move on to the first tutorial for the Beechcraft 1900D - startup.

X Plane 11 : Carenado Beech 1900D : Reference Electrical System

This is the first of three reference videos preceding a complete series on the Beech 1900D.

You might be wondering about the purpose of a video on the electrical system. The purpose of the reference videos is to cover in some depth various aspects of the aircraft. The presentation of this material is difficult within the context of a tutorial.

The electrical system is the backbone of the aircraft. And rather than simply explain that the battery switch must be in the on position, having a greater understanding of the electrical system as a whole puts the switch into context. A better understanding of the aircraft is therefore created.

X Plane 11 : vFlyteAir Piper Twin Comanche : Tutorial 1 Startup

In this video we look at starting the vFlyte Twin Comanche.

The aircraft actually has a good interactive checklist. The developers are to be commended for that. I hope that this video will help in finding certain controls, and give a little more detail about them.

X Plane 11 : vFlyteAir Piper Twin Comanche : Zurich Dawn Approach

An early morning approach and landing at Zurich in the Piper Twin Comanche.

X Plane 11 : vFlyteAir Piper Twin Comanche : Landing Practise

The great advantage X-Plane has is its ability to set up VFR and IFR approaches. You don't need to complete a flight to practise approaches. And in this video we're looking at approaches in the Piper Twin Comanche.

X Plane 11 : Reference Power Quadrant & Piston Engines

What are those levers for?

You might know what the overall effect of the throttle, prop, and mixture levers do, but do you know how your inputs really affect the engine? Do you know how a piston engine works?

Of course you don't need to understand these things to fly an aircraft. You can successfully go from one point to another without having to even think about that. But with more insight into how a piston engine aircraft works you can become much more aware of what your inputs with those levers are actually doing.

The purpose of it is to give a little more understanding of the power quadrant and how it works.
